Cicada Birthday 050725

Happy Birthday, dear Cicada !

evening breeze -
a cicada staggers
out to new life

Aaaa, almost there ...

trying hard
to cope with life -
the baby cicada

out of the cask
and free to roam -
baby cicada

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

making friends
on the first day -
welcome to Paradise !

Little Karl came by to greet his new friend!

( semi-n-ko ya isshokenmei iki-nuke yo )

極楽に 蝉の子生まれ 友を知る
( GokuRaku ni semi no ko umare tomo wo shiru )

新しい命の誕生は、ほんとうに感動的な一大イベントですね!
GabiさんもKarl君もそこに立ち会えてなんと幸運だったことでしょう!

セミの鳴き声などが聞けます。

Some great shots, Gabi!
I saw a palmetto bug (huge cockroach to the uninitiated)just after it had emerged from its egg case and was sure I'd found some sort of alien life form.
Thanks for sharing.

cheers,
S.

WOW! AMAZING PHOTOS! I wish I could tell you what species this is, but it's hard to tell after they emerge before they dry....it appears to be a tibicen species, depending oin the location

Awesome photos. Thank you so much for sharing. And the haiku as well of course but the photos really resonated for me.

I was especialy pleased with the photo where the cidada looks so much larger than the cocoon/shell.
..... snip
Went back to reread your haiku: I like your use of "evening" because it suggests the old life that the cicada has outgrown and "breeze" for the suggestion of movement, which brings up, at least for me, the idea of change, transformation, and growth. Subtle and beautiful.
