Zinnia (hyakunichisoo)

  








in my garden
for a hundred days ...
the Zinnia











Zinnia, hyakunichisoo (one hundred days flower)
Zinnia elegans 百日草 (ひゃくにちそう. ヒャクニチソウ)
kigo for late summer

Zinn was a German biologist in the 18th century, who lend the name to the flower.
The origin is in Mexico. Around 1860, the flower was introduced to Japan. It comes in many colors.
